Cape Town, South Africa 2011

World of Birds

On the way back from our excursion today we stopped at World of Birds, a bird and animal sanctuary. They boast over 3,000 different species of birds and I for one believe them. It was quite something.

Not a bird but a mongoose and quite an entertaining little chap. He wasn't being aggressive in this shot, more like sleepy.

Lovely Golden Pheasant

This is my favorite African bird, the Secretary Bird.

There were loads of owls, many in open enclosures and quite close as you walked by.

This is a fat meerkat.

An this a bat eared fox.

A Rock Hydrax or "dassie" with quite an overbite. These little critters are most closely related to the elephant.
